Tony Lama and the El Rey Cowboy Boots
Cowboy boots for $32 000!
Cowboy boots have been around for as long as man and horse have been one. And the tough Tony Lama boots were first built in 1911.
Tony Lama boots are handcrafted by the best bootmakers around and only use top grade leather. They are great fitting, great looking boots. Made tough, made to last.
El Rey boots now a tradition
The El Rey Boots are a part of a long tradition in Tony Lama history. The first pair of El Rey boots were developed in 1951 by Tony Lama Sr. They were valued at $3000 and were used for promotional purposes. In 1953 the boots were stolen.
The El Rey II boots were designed in 1970 and were valued at $10 000. These boots were also stolen whilst on tour.
A third pair of El Rey boots were developed and can still be seen during special promotions. These boots are valued at $32 000 and due to past history are closely guarded when on display.
They are just boots - how can they be worth $32 000?
The El Rey III boots are more than just boots. They were designed by the Research and Development Department of Tony Lama and are part of a three month project. They are hand cut, hand lasted and hand finished.
El Rey means King
El Rey is the Spanish word for "King" and these boots live up to their name. They are certainly fit for a King.
The El Rey III boots are made from alligator skin and have English-Calf tops inlaid in 218 settings. The stones were set by two jewelers who spent 70 hours setting the stones, fusing the special staples used to mount the settings and giving all of the pieces a final Rhodium plating to enhance their brightness.
The combined weight of the stones is 17 carats. Truly fit for a King.
Little wonder the El Rey III boots are valued at $32 000 and luckily they still sell their normal top quality cowboy boots to the everyday man who simply wants tough, good fitting cowboy boots that will last.
